Need an Internet hotspot for when you're out and about or on the road? Do you find the idea of high speed access from anywhere appealing? Of course you do, and secure access via your own hotspot too? What's not to like! Tech expert Dave Taylor of tests out the new Netgear Nighthawk 5G/LTE Mobile Hotspot from AT&T Wireless and finds it quite impressive. A best in class product, it offers a surprising number of features and capabilities, but not yet actual 5G: no networks are deployed as of yet from AT&T. Tests include speed tests while driving 80mph through Wyoming and parked in the middle of nowhere in Montana, along with an exploration of many of its other features. Learn more at

Understanding AT&T's New NEW Unlimited Data Plans

AT&T is launching this week their new NEW unlimited data plans for smartphones - making their plans more competitive than they've ever offered before. And perhaps even one of the most unique features - unlimited data on internet only devices? But these new plans have some catches including 10GB of high speed mobile hotspot use on smartphones & tablets and network management after 22GB of usage. What does this mean? Especially for RVers who are looking for home internet replacements while they travel. How can these plans fit into your overall mobile internet arsenal? In this short video we explain the limitations of these plans, what network management means. 3/1/2018 - AT&T has rolled out their new 'Enhanced' plans and all info shared in this video checks out.

Back in October 2017 AT&T caused a scare when it began to notify customers that mobile hotspots would soon "no longer be eligible devices" to use with AT&T's Unlimited Plus plans, though AT&T quickly recanted to indicate that those notifications had been sent out "inadvertently".

But we've suspected that it would only be a matter of time before AT&T closed the door on its unlimited hotspot plans, which for the past year have been the BEST plans available for heavy data users directly from a major carrier.

We're now seeing multiple credible rumors and leaks from AT&T insiders saying that the hotspot door is about to SLAM SHUT starting Thursday, March 1st - when AT&T will announce new "Unlimited Enhanced" plans that will indeed drop support for standalone hotspots.
