Filipino Champorado (Chocolate Rice) | Good Times with Jen

Wake up to this sweet and savory chocolate rice porridge, topped with a special ingredient. INGREDIENTS: 5 oz milk and dark chocolate, roughly chopped 5 cups water 1 cup sweet rice or sushi rice Sugar to taste Salt to taste Toppings: Sweetened condensed milk Dried salted anchovies STEPS: 1.) In a saucepan, boil 1 cup of water and chocolate. Stir until the chocolate has fully dissolved. Set aside. 2.) Rinse rice until the water is no longer cloudy. Boil 4 cups of water in a pot and add the rinsed rice. Reduce to a simmer, stir occasionally, and allow to cook for about 10-15 minutes or until thickened. 3.) Stir in the chocolate mixture, sugar if desired, and salt. Allow to cook for a few more minutes. 4.) Serve in a bowls with a drizzle of condensed milk and top with dried anchovies. If you're on a No Rice Diet (like me), you can still indulge in guilt-free champorado.

How to make Champorado Oats?

Servings: 1


1 cup rolled oats
2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
2 tbsp brown sugar
2 cups / 400ml water
evaporated milk (at least 4 tbsp)


1. Bring water to a boil.
2. Add rolled oats. Stir occasionally until soft. (8 mins.)
3. Add unsweetened cocoa powder and stir until it dissolves.
4. Add brown sugar. Mix well. (Add sugar according to your taste.)
Stir constantly for another 2 mins.
5. Turn off heat. Wait for 1 min. before serving.
6. Transfer to a serving bowl. Add evaporated milk on top.
Serve with your favorite "tuyo".
