[FIXED] DirecTV Now 2.0 Update Breaks HDMI Output, Chromecast Support

7/2/2018: The 2.1 app release fixes this issue. Stream on! If you're a DirecTV Now app user, and you utilize HDMI or Chromecast to broadcast your shows onto a big screen: DON'T MOVE! Back away from the 'update all option' in your app updates section. Allowing the DirecTV app to update to 2.0 will break your ability to use HDMI or Chromecast outputs. Let's show you some of the exciting features of our new DIRECTV NOW app. (All Screen Images Simulated.) Currently available on recent-generation iOS/tvOS devices and supported web browsers.

On the main menu, you'll find live TV under Watch Now. My Library has recordings and shows you bookmarked to watch later. Check out Discover to see what's playing On Demand. There’s a lot in there so leave a trail of breadcrumbs. The Guide gives you access to all your channels. Or you can Search by show name or channel to go straight to what you're looking for. If you're using a mobile device, your interface may look a little different, but it'll all work the same. Let's watch some live TV. Just go to Watch Now. You'll see the last 15 channels you've watched front and center. You can dive in from right here to watch full screen. If you're late to the party, you can Restart from the beginning. Or Record to watch later. (Restart feature availability is limited. Record functions limited in beta. Compatible device & data connection required. Not avail. on select channels. Limit 20 hours of programming, stored for 30 days. Restrictions apply.)

To pull up the guide, you can go either here … or here … to see all your channels. To favorite a channel, just set that heart afire. Then go to the filter icon to see all of your favorites in one place… or view by type of program. Want to see what’s coming up down the road? Jump To Day lets you peer into the future … of the TV schedule. DIRECTV NOW makes finding the shows you want to watch a breeze. Now get in there and TV like you mean it.
